So apparently Santa doesn't need a DBS check (although that only proves he hasn't been caught with enough material). Also parents are not entitled to know the identity of this heavily disguised man who is chatting with their children before giving them a present for being good!

I have contacted some seasonal attractions and no one will tell me who their santas are. Doctors, dentists, retail workers, call centre operatives will all cheerfully give a name or wear it. Actors appear on a cast list. I just don't get it.

I did not mean to imply that all men are predators, just that having a DBS can give a false sense of security. I am sure that most Santas are genuine but find it unsettling that as parents and grandparents we cannot know the identity of the man or woman in the costume.

I apologise for any upset.

Could it be because he never is alone with a child? There is a parent present, a photographer or an elf or two...im not sure what else to say?
