They arrested so many rioters and give them quick, harsh sentences.

Anyone else worried that this will delay "our" cases even longer?

I imagine they are seizing and examining the phones and laptops of the rioters.

We've been waiting for over 2 years now.

unfortunately I think it will move our cases further down the long queue. Also I wonder if the prisons are full of rioters then there's less room, and maybe our people are more likely to get non-custodial sentences. I'm also hoping that if theres a long long list of names in the local paper court round ups, our peoples names may be lost or overlooked in a sea of rioters.

plus it means more people who like to throw bricks and set fire to things are in prison (crude I know but it's one of my biggest fears from the release of info into the public).

Think you right ladies. It's just more weight put on the overstretched services. Will the government splash more cash to deal with it - ummmmmmm.......

I've also been reflecting on this.

I heard a spokesman from the criminal justice system on the radio saying that genrally waiting lists for cases to be dealt with is now going into 2025, but with all these new cases with all the rioters it's looking like 2026 for other cases. The one bright spark is that a couple of people on here recently have mentioned the judge using a long wait as a mitigating factor in the sentencing so maybe that will work in our people's favour? To give a long sentence after being in a prison of a different kind for so long is surely something to put into the mix. Apart from the emotional stress of waiting there is the fact that for all these months these people have been in the community (albeit many with restrictions) so to suddenly say they aren't safe to be in the community (one of the reasons for prison) is rather ridiculous in my opinion.....
