Bail extended again

Really is the "gift" that keeps on giving - I always get more anxious the nearer the bail hearing comes for my boy - to find out it's been extended once again - trying to live this new "normal" voicing my thoughts on here and again wondering how on earth did we ever find ourselves on this journey. Sending love and strength to all - you are all amazing xx
Hi Elliott - I remember that feeling well but like many on here after a few rebails and when it got to the point that it would need to be agreed by a magistrate rather than internally (maybe showing up the police's inefficiiency and delays) our son was released under investigation (RUI). It felt like a minor freedom but social services still expected him to follow the bail 'rules' with his children so didn't really make much difference to us practically apart from knowing that if we broke the 'safety plan' rules he couldn't be rearrested. We have stuck to them of course, but it 'felt' a bit easier! Also being RUI can mean that the police just stop prioritising the case so maybe causes more delays but hey ho, it is what it is I guess. But I feel your anxiety and remember mine well (and look forward to welcoming it back when our case has some movement!!!!) xx
Hi Rainyday
This will be the third extension - at what point do the police need a magistrate to extend? And is this when it can be changed to RUI ? x

I think that police can rebail up to 9 months with officers of increasing rank having to agree to it each time. Then it has to go to magistrates to decide. However I'm sure that I've read on here occasionally that bail was extended beyond 9 months by the police so perhaps there are specific times that can happen. It was certainly the 9 month mark for us. The OIC tried to tell us it was only because she had told social services that they had to keep their restrictions or she wouldn't allow it whereas we knew it wasn't that at all, it was the rules and not up to her and the SW had already explained she had to keep the safeguarding in place until we knew what the charges were. We didn't correct the OIC when she announced this at the CP review and now I'm glad we took the moral high ground although I was dying to laugh when she made her pompous little speech!!!
Rainy day
This will be a year since the knock - thanks for the info - little wins eh !! xx

My partner had his bail extended to 12 months when his file was passed to the CPS in August, this is up on Sunday and we've already been told it won't be extended and he will RUI.
is this because the CPS think the evidence isn't great or because it's normal procedure.

It's normal. Hes still likely to be charged.
