Hi,just came on here for some advice,my ex husband(my daughters dad) was arrested Aug 2023 for online activity and was bailed for 9 months,a year later and still heard nothing. How long does this thing usually take? Thankyou.

Hi,

sorry you've found yourself here. It can be quite a long process. I don't want to leave you without a response but unfortunately there's not really a set answer, it varies so much and there seems to be a lot of backlogs and delays down to sheer numbers. There is the stint whilst they're gathering evidence and seeing if they have enough to press charges. This can take months even years. If they have anything it will be sent to the CPS to decide whether to prosecute (court etc) this unfortunately also takes time. The charges to court doesn't seem to be as long a wait but many on here have been subject to delays and cancellations, most of us have been hear a year or two....some poor posters were 4years in.

have you tried the legal process section of the forum? Or calling the helpline they're really lovely. A voice of calm in the chaos.

Thankyou for replying to me. I have used the helpline sometimes,I have found them very helpful, sometimes it's nice to talk to someone who doesn't know you but knows the situation. I need to reach out more really because I find I sit on it and bottle it up then it will just hit me and then I have a bad day.

My current partner had the knock October 2019. His trial has been cancelled so many times, he should be on trial this time in 1.5 weeks. Although, the CPS have failed to gather their evidence, yet again, so who knows about another delay.

It can be lengthy, so prepare for that to be a possible would be my advice!
