This is just a living nightmare. Every scenario running through my head. Know my child (16) reports stuff and snapchat accepted one as violation. Police are just holding this on file not asked for copies of emails. My child can't remember exactly what it was other than probably iioc. I believe my child because they've always been scared to get in trouble to point it's a fear and causes anxiety, reports everything.

I'm just wondering is it common for the police to give you no info other than iioc were viewed. Solicitor said other towns he's dealt with have gave info but ours hasn't. Only thing we gathered is teenagers and they spoke 'need to find out if the image was stored'. They were asking if my child knew a child is classed under 18 (my child said yes but told me after because they read it on wall).

There seems no consistency in whether people are arrested, bailed or under investigation. I read even people who admit stuff are released on investigation. Feel my child is easy target for them and they don't realise the impact they cause. Husband has very little faith in police.

I honestly have no idea how I'm gonna get myself through this let alone my child. We have SW coming next week for what help it will do.

If your son has been interviewed by the police and had a solicitor present, then they should have a record of what was said.

Other than that, the only details will be given at a second interview once devices searched. There will be a detailed document sent to CPS which is then sent to solicitor if and when CPS press charges.

Yeah he was interviewed and I was present due to his age, along with solicitor. He fully cooporated, answered questions he could.

Thing that scared us is that what if something downloaded and he didn't know. We know when pop ups have appeared saying problem on pc and he's clicked it thinking genuine issue and that it's then took him to inappropriate stuff and like I said in main post he's reported snapchat. He now knows not to click these links and higher restrictions in place on all devices. It's impact on his mental health that worries me because he's always suffered anxiety about doing the wrong thing and getting into trouble.

The waiting game is just torture and we are only a month in just about.

Hi

The waiting is awful. I'm so sorry youre all hoing through this. My advice is to monitor your son's mental health and seek help if you are worried about him - your GP, or 111 or of course 999 if you are truly worried. I know of a teen who had downloaded a few images and he was sent to Youth Justice Team for some work. He was highly vulnerable and so they fast tracked the investigation and he had some therapeutic support through the Youth Justice team. He ultimately got a caution. You don't know yet what will be and the waiting is terrible. I think keep yourself and your son busy if you can.

Take care
