For the first time I've put a sign on the door saying 'no trick or treaters here' that I downloaded from the local police force website. My husbands SHPO has no contact with anyone under 16 rule so this seemed like the most sensible thing to do. Just as I think that I'm getting used to this 'new world' something else comes along that makes me remember that life just isn't what is used to be.

Trying to keep it together

The sign did it's job and we haven't had anyone knocking on the door. Even spent the evening in the lounge at the front of the house rather than trying to hide away at the back with the lights off.

I think you have hit the nail on the head as to why I was feeling down about it, thank you. Like you say, it's over now for another year.
