We were looking at going abroad in 2026 but seeing all the new rules coming into place were abit worried about booking incase oh gets refused due to conviction. We are now thinking of booking for early April to go once before it comes into effect does anyone know any information on it and would it be worth doing it before it comes into place as I've saw they are giving a 6 months grace period
Any help is great fully appreciated we have little ones that desperately want to go on a plane for first time and would hate for them to miss out of something else

Hi,
We went abroad for the first time this year and had no issues at all. We went to Malta which is child friendly.
Lets see what the ETIAS scheme brings, its worth keeping an eye on the unlock forum as they usually have up to date info on travelling when on the SOR.

I just googled Etias and criminal record, it came up with various websites so it maybe worth having a look. By the look of it, it depends on the length of sentence and where you are going. X
Oh saw probation last night, she didn't know anything about any changes but from what he explained to her she doesn't see it being a problem, we are also looking for before it comes into place there is also a 6 months grace period so you can visit once without doing it so we're trying to go before it all starts then he can apply to see if he can get it incase we book anywhere else in future
Just having read this and had a conversation with my husband we are resigned to staying in the U.K. for our future holidays. Not putting ourselves through this for a bit of sunshine I'm afraid, even if your passport is approved Border Control can refuse entry. I couldn't cope with the stress.

It looks like it should be fine for next year it's the one after, from what I read they can refuse entry for anyone convictions or not even without this new stuff coming into place, I will be dreading it but really hoping it will all be ok x
