This is really difficult for me as I've got to my mid 50's and never had any issues with the police etc. However, I now find myself looking at my 30 year old son and wondering what's going to happen. He received the knock almost two and half years ago, he had all three classes of photos on his devices, he had reported every single one to whoever you report things to online but he never bothered deleting the files.

He has had to take two weeks off of work, waiting for a call to go to Crown court. This is what he's telling me. I thought that he would have received a date for crown court, so if anyone can give me some information on how this works it would be really helpful. I also found out within the last year from him, that he was sexually abused by members of my In-laws family when he was a child himself. He won't discuss anything about that with me which I find really difficult to deal with because i want to know the when's, exactly who etc.. Sorry this post is so long, but i honestly don't know what to do or where to turn.

First, you are not alone. This is the 'Mutual Devastation Society'!

We are all on this horrible journey because of someone in our family. Mine is also my 29 year old son.

First I would reccommend you & possibly your son, phoning the LFF helpline. They are a font of information & support. They also run courses to help people understand.

Each day has to be dealt with on its own. Don't let your What ifs & Whys dominate your thoughts. Look after yourself & keep in touch with this wonderful non-judgemental community.

Sending hugs

Hi

Losing my son 71

My son was not given a crown court date,I thought he would off been at pre hearing, they just said it will be 4 to 6 weeks from the date of pre hearing

He at to go and see probation officer in-between to do sentencing report

Time passed he suddenly got a phone call from solicitors, to say it be on certain date

The day before the date he got a phone call to say it was not on the list and to ring by 4 to see if was down, next day

Which he did,and still not on list,he then got phone call to say it was postponed for another month

And it could be just 48 hrs noticed

I goggled it and it's classed as floating case

We are know two months passed sentencing, my son case was communication

Another mum of an older son here (mine is in his early 40's). We are all with you and send an empathetic hug your way.

It sounds to me like your son's court date is what's known as a 'floating trial.' It's frustrating as it means the trial might happen if a judge/courtroom becomes free but might not so you have to be available 'just in case'. There are a few threads on here about these type of trial if you search.
