Hello,
I think the real question here is why has he got a 12 year old on snapchat to begin with? Also snapchat uses something called bitmojis and these are like characters that you make look like yourself, above all else the username is there when you send a snap to someone. The police will look at all this too in regards to his case.
I hope this helps

A suggested friends feature doesn't exist on Snapchat. You have quick add where you can add anyone and everyone who has this turned on and this could be any age or you can add someone who is already in your phone contacts. Might be a hard reality but I don't think your friend is telling the full truth (which is expected).

I never knew Snapchat had this feature so I stand corrected and glad they've finally taken accountability for youths. But the question will still remain why did he have a minor on there and it won't wash with police which is hard to go by.
It is now an offence to send an explicit image to anybody, regardless of age, without their consent, so that will also have to be considered.
The issue of what age the person was will depend on what info was available at the time. Was the account identified as an under 18 by snapchat, or was this a 12 year old using an adults account?
