Hi All,

I work within the healthcare sector (do not have direct contact with patients etc) as an auditor for a 3rd party. I have just got this job from a promotion within.

I am now required to have an SIA license to audit security cameras etc and will need to do a DBS check.

OH has been convicted, however currently living at his mum's due to us working on relationship etc. police know his mums is his main address but as required on SOR they have my address as his second place.

Will this effect my DBS? I'm worried that something will show up because of his conviction?

Hi, I can't help you with the DBS issue but just wanted to draw your attention to potentially being seen as guilty by association, kind of thing. 2 of my close family members worked for the NHS at the time of the ex's arrest etc and they had to disclose everything. Maybe go through the contract carefully if you can to make sure. Xx

My contract just states I need to disclose if I am under investigation for anything or if I have been convicted of anything. Nothing about family members or people I live with?

I need an enhanced DBS for my job. My son has now lived with me for the past 3 years and nothing has ever shown on my DBS. I pay for the annual update service and each year it comes through clear.

OH is under investigation (awaiting forensics) and I had no issues getting an enhanced DBS a few months after the police showed up. Admittedly he moved out straightaway, but we're still legally married. Obviously a conviction might change things!

The guilty by association was dropped years ago. Your DBS is based on you and you only now.

'Guilty by association' has formally ended but employers do and can make it uncomfortable so you are pushed into leaving your job. Thats what happened to me.

I applied for an enhanced DBS for a position in a nursery kitchen and as I live with my person. His conviction was included. I tried to appeal with our local constabulary but was told that as we live together he could still be a risk to my job.

He is off the register next year but there is no guarantee this will come off my DBS anytime soon.

So even tho guilty by association is no longer a thing, for me it is

I had a DBS go through with no mention on my OH recently (as his case is still in limbo / under vague investigation). He is being investigated for IIOC.

The local policy contacted me and based on advice from unlocked I wrote a reply that detailed why it should not be mentioned on my DBS. The reasons why included, the offence was online only, the DBS was for a voluntary position that I did alone (not involving my husband), the position was not in our house, all my contact with children would not involve him and would be at a local club.

It did take months to come through so if anyone was looking closely, they would ask why is it taking so long..... luckily no one asked.

If he's not living with you I really wouldn't worry, it shouldn't show up even on enhanced.

If it did show up, it still shouldn't affect you.

I'm a social worker and live with my person and I've had a promotion since it all happened, and disclosed at interview. A lot of workplaces are very supportive. It's not harmed my career in any way.

Hope that helps

Hi

I work within the healthcare sector and I think it depends on which DBS they want to do the DBS I've had in the past have not included the part about working with children However I did go for a job and they did do a full DBS on me in case I was incontact with children and because of what my OH has done in the past everything he had done what's disclosed on my DBS it was horrendous. There was stuff on there that I didn't even know about but because I hadnt told my boss but then I hadnt had full disclosure either from him I had the job offer retracted in case he coerced me into basically copying what he's done

however I do still work in healthcare perhaps not the type of healthcare I would like to work in but at the end of the day it is a job doing what I'm trying to do And I have just renewed my DBS So there are jobs out there, although they need to do a disclosure on you it doesn't always show things that your partner has done!!,
