So yesterday I accompanied my husband at magistrates court. We thought it was for a plea hearing but it wasn't. We were at magistrates for him to be formally indicted and he will enter his plea at crown Court next month. My husband is pleading not guilty and we have been advised by the solicitor that it could be 16 to 24 months before he even goes to trial. I cannot believe how long these cases get dragged on for and how it destroys families lives. I have no idea what the outcome will be, I just hope I can remain strong enough to pull my family through this.

Thank you for all your kind words for yesterday xx

How stressful for you, you have my sympathy. I also can't believe how long these cases take. It seems that because we don't talk about these cases publicly, we won't complain, and so it's fine to push them to the end of the queue.
My OH is going to plead guilty, and it's a straight forward case, and even so it's taken nearly 3 years to get to this stage, which is not even at court stage yet, the case is still with the CPS. It's nothing short of disgusting how we are all treated, it's so unfair on the families and I am nearly at the end of my tether. Meanwhile, on the surface normal life is carrying on, but my stomach is permanently in knots. It's just not fair

I'm so sorry it's been 3 years and is still with the cps I can't imagine how stressful and upsetting that is for you. The knock for us was 1 year ago yesterday so all in all it will probably be 3 years by the time it's all resolved. I hope you get some kind of update soon xx

Its the impact this has on the families of these type of offences, we're not treated like victims. We're treated like people who support what our people have done and that's not the case. It's a shame the time spent under investigation/restriction can't be taken into account for sentencing. Additional years when the families and offender are having restrictions imposed, devices seized, social services involved etc. If it's taking 3-4 years to get to court then another 5-10 on the register most kids of offenders will be adults or much older teens by the time it's all final. That's a long time to be exposed to the stress and trauma of constantly not knowing if you're going to lose a parent or not. If it was an illness or the parent had any other addiction, there'd be support and therapy for the kids but there's nothing for us because of the taboo.

Hi thank you for the update. What happened in court and how long did it take? Did they go through the details of the case?

I hope this isn't prolonged for you Bub. I also wish you strength whilst waiting and when it does go to trial the best outcome for your husband too.
