How on earth do you go about choosing the right criminal defence solicitor? I've been googling various local ones this afternoon but I'm finding it totally overwhelming!
Is it better to use a nationwide company or local?
How did you choose and what has been / was your experience?
Any advice greatfully received!

My husband is receiving legal aid so your situation maybe slightly different but after alot of Google searches like yourself we have appointed a local firm who specialises in sexual offences. Due to being legal aid we haven't had much communication yet apart from at the first court hearing but I still can't fault them and think we made the right choice sticking with a local solicitor. Also chances are if you find someone local then costs will be lower as they won't up the price with travel and accommodation costs. Hope this helps xx

Thanks Bub84

We won't get legal aid unfortunately but I guess it won't hurt to email a few local solicitors - there is one I definitely don't want to use if I can help it - and yes possibly local would be less expensive too. X
