Hi,

the first couple of meetings with probation can be quite long. They usually go over what the sentence should look like in terms of probation, community payback hours, horizon if applicable and some of them reiterate the terms of the SHPO again if applicable.
There will most likely be an initial Oasys assessment so it may seem like a lot of questions around home, employment and social life. They may also be interested in any therapy or courses that your person has/is undertaking.
Sometimes probation and offender manager attend the meetings together although this may not happen. I think there has to be a set number of times that they meet so they sometimes coincide this with a probation meeting to work in a more joined up way.
It's important that your person understands his SHPO so if anything is said that isn't on there then he can direct probation back to that. My persons probation officer said he couldn't see our daughter without her and ss approval which was incorrect as he wasn't on licence and his SHPO has no contact restrictions. She issued him with a warning within that first month because he met our daughter (she was born the week of sentencing and I'd already cleared it with ss). I hope this helps a little, I know it's a scary time but it goes fast and they do get used to going xxx

Hiya Galaxy.

My O/H was given 240 hours of community service and to be honest he said it wasn't a bad thing.
First interview was a who's who exchange details , making sure all was ok and what stuff he could do etc. talked about life , things he liked doing , work stuff and any issues with health etc. the normal stuff. He had around 6 visits before he started any work.
He loved gardening so went up to a cemetery every day. Wasn't to bad. Also you get to do online stuff which can take around 30% off your community order.

Hope it helps xx
