How long did you have to wait for seized devices to be analysed?

Hello. It has been 17 weeks this week since I experienced the knock. On the day it happened, one of the police who attended the house said the estimated time for devices to be analysed would be 12 to 16 weeks. We have heard nothing back since from the OIC or anyone else. I have seen posts on this forum saying any estimates given by police (or anything else the police say) should be taken with a huge pinch of salt. I'm beginning to think that's true.

We have been to a solicitor in the time since the knock occurred, and they seem to think it's best to just try to carry on as normal and wait for the police to get in touch. What did others do who have been in this situation?

It seems vary around the country and time spent checking devices is only part of the delay. There is the time taken for the CPS to decide whether to charge and so on, as well.

My advice would be to give the police a minimum of 6 months to come back to you. After that you could ask your solicitor to contact them, which they are allowed to do every 28 days.

But be prepared for a long wait. 18 months to 2 years appears to be quite common.

I'm sorry to say that it took over 4 years in my ex partners case. His whole life was in limbo for that whole time which doesn't seem fair (whether he is guilty or not)

13 months and counting in our case and the police also lied. I have no idea why they do it, but it seems quite common.

21 months wait for us and still waiting. After the third police report that they are making progress (at a case conference for our grandchildren), we now just want to laugh when anyone quotes them as saying anything similar. We have a new SW now who confidently informed us that she was speaking to the OIC last week and would get an accurate update and let us know. Needless to say we have had no update from her despite messages about other matters. Wonder why? ;)

PS we know that one day there will be news but this exaggerating (aka lying) doesn't help our mental preparation for that day.

It took 2 years and 3 months. My husband then got NFA.
