Has anyone got a sole mortgage but convicted partner is living with you?

My house is in my name but the mortgage is paid off. If you are wondering about getting a mortgage with a conviction from what I've read on unlock.org.uk that's still possible as a lot of companies are interested in your ability to pay and not in a criminal record. Just remember to get house insurance separately as you will almost definitely have to disclose for insurance purposes and most mainstream insurance companies won't insure you.

Thanks.

I'm getting a mortgage on my own but I was wondering what would happen if I wanted partner to move back in. Would i have to let the mortgage company know?

I certainly never told my mortgage company when my husband moved in, so I doubt it. Insurance you will probably need to notify. However my suggestion, if you have insurance with a mainstream company with a clause about notifying if anyone living in the house gets a criminal conviction, get new insurance and then cancel the old insurance. I did the right thing, notified them only to have them cancel my house insurance immediately. And now on top of everything else I have a 'cancelled insurance' flag against my name.

Unlock have a helpline, so might be worth giving them a call.
