End of shpo
Notifications OFF
Hi, this may seem a ridiculous question. What happens when the shpo ends? Is that it? Just normal life resumes?
Also, on speaking with our visor about holidays he has mentioned that it's par of the course to issue a green notice when travelling abroad (which I thought was ok a case by case basis from reading policy determined by specialists) but he also mentioned that this stays for 5 years once issued. So, ignoring ETIAS, if we went away next summer with only 2 years remaining, and they do automatically issue green notices, does this mean even when the Shpo ends, he will be flagged?
Thanks x

Hi,
I believe if the time on sor also ends with the SHPO then yes everything goes back to normal for want of a better word.
In terms of travel abroad it should be on a case by case basis and unless any travel restrictions on SHPO there shouldn't be any issue.
I feel the visor might be confused, my understanding is that the 5 year timescale is regarding EITAs and those on SOR. For example, my partners time on sor ends Feb 26 but it will have to be declared until Feb 31 under the new travel rules xxx

It's true that Interpol green notices are issued for 5 years, although they can be cancelled at any time. They are actually quite rare and not normally issued for anyone who is not considered high risk. Although I can't rule out that certain police forces have a policy of issuing them automatically.
ETIAS is different. It hasn't come in yet, but would require someone travelling to the EU to give details of their conviction up to 15 years after it was committed.
Once the SHPO ends, I would advise contacting the visor and asking them to cancel any green notices. I'm afraid it won't be straightforward because it's not the visor who issues the green notice, it's a seperate department within the force.

Thanks ladies,
I'm not even considering ETIAS at the moment. Heard today they're not really expecting it to be in until November next year? But nobody really knows, do they?
Thanks Edel, that's really useful to know re green notice. We shall see I guess. Just another hurdle, we've got through worse!
