Just wondering if anyone as a ex partner of someone charged with iioc, has written a victim impact statement for court? Did the police ask you, or did you volunteer it?

Thanks

I'd be really interested if anyone has any experience.....I'd like to give a victim statement on behalf of me and my child and how this has already ruined our lives, and that the sentence determines how much further they're ruined by sharing the worst trauma I've ever had to go through.

The OIC in my ex's case has asked me to write a Victim Impact Statement and has said he's going to present it to the CPS along with the rest of the evidence when the time comes.

I've been documenting everything from the outset, including the detrimental impact it's had on my mental health after all the horrific things I've had to read and see. It's helped me put my statement together as matters have proceeded and I've found more and more evidence, but it's still a work in progress.

Personally, I think it's extremely important that victims are heard and the impact on them is taken into consideration by the court. The children who've had their lives destroyed don't have a voice, so those of us who do have one should speak up.
