Hi all,

My biological Dad is a SO, ongoing situation but a serious one. I have no contact with him, but some other immediate family members do.

Would this impact my ability to adopt?

I'm in a same sex couple so adoption or IVF are our only viable options. Further context I have a history of depression and anxiety, which I don't know if that will impact adoption too.

Any insight much appreciated

I am not an expert, but I think adoption might be difficult for you. It takes years and you and your family will be completely scrutinized

It's very unfair because you haven't done the crime, but your father being a SO combined with your history of mental health issues might make them very wary of adopting a very vulnerable child to you.

Please don't take this the wrong way.

My husband who I have biological children was under investigation for indecent images.

I'm sure if I left my husband and found a new partner tomorrow and wanted to adopt with him, it would be a hard no from the adoption panel.

I think IVF might be your best shot. All the best xx
