Should solicitor address letter direct to my 16yr old
Notifications OFF
So just had a lovely week away forgetting all what's going off. This morning planned for me and my son to go for a run. He was in ok mood basically he's blocking all the negative stuff out.
Then within seconds that changed. He opened a letter addressed to him which turned out to be from solicitor just confirming bail extended. Resulting in a meltdown and not going for a run.
Does anyone know do they have to address the letters directly to him. He's only 16 so still a child. Normally we get to post first and he hadn't acknowledged the original bail date. Possibly forgotten or blocked out.
Husband gave police a mouthful when they called to extend the bail saying he didn't trust them. They were asking why son wasn't doing stuff he had before and came out with comment 'Is that so he doesn't get into trouble again'. That was like red rag to a bull for my husband. They also used comment I understand this must be difficult time.
We still believe my sons innocent. The many reasons I've stated before in previous posts. And we still believe it's related back to school and social media. He's never met up with anyone away from school because he didn't attend local school. We dropped him off and picked him up inside gates due to anxiety since covid.
When I messaged police they said they would try get devices checked quicker. Whether they will or can who knows. Or if just saying because husbands told them he was making a complaint at end of all this.

Hey,
I'm not sure regarding your question, it seems strange to me that it would be addressed directly to him.
I was wondering how you ended up with a solicitor already? I have called quite a few for my 15 year old and they have all said the same...wait until they call you for the voluntary interview and then get back in touch with them.

Although we have no idea exactly what he's accused of he was interviewed on the day of the knock and had duty solicitor present. I decided it was for the best because I had no idea how everything worked.
I'm learning no two police forces do things the same, even in same county.

Oh yes, so is it the same solicitor you have now.
It does seem crazy how different it all is for everyone. My son has no bail and hasn't been interviewed yet.
