Hi, for those that are post court and have people on probation.

(My husband has spoken to the police and they've said he can leave the country as long as they know when and where ect)

My question is, are there countries that won't let him in?

I know we need to look at the terms and conditions of places to see if it states anything about people on the SOR, he spoke to a police officer who said it doesn't matter about checking the T&C abroad but I know his community police officer will say it matters. Has anyone been told not to worry about the T&Cs when abroad? It was very clear when we holidays in the UK that we must check.

Thank you xx

Hi

Sorry I don't have much experience with this but I was recommended the unlock.org.uk website.

Take care,

Hx

Its probably a good idea to check the t&c, just in case, but the police cannot do anything, like telling them about the conviction, because they don't have any jurisdiction outside the UK. They would have to go through the local police and they wouldn't bother doing that unless they thought there was a high risk of harm, in which case, they probably wouldn't allow the person to travel anyway.

The other question about where you can go is more difficult. The USA and Australia are very difficult to enter. High risk countries like Thailand would not be a good idea. There are no problems with Europe at the moment. The Unlock website has lots more info on visas etc.

I don't know everywhere he can't go but I can tell you all the places my OH has been whilst on the SOR: Poland, Tenerife, Morrocco, Germany, Bulgaria, Ireland, Spain, Prague, Greece.
So basically lots of places in Europe and then Morocco. He just has to go to a passport checker person instead of the machines but he's never been asked any questions. Hopefully this reassures you!

Have there been any updates about ETIAS? My person is still under investigation but strangely enough the thing I worry about most is not being able to travel to Europe. We've enjoyed our trips together in the past so much and I feel like it's a big part of our relationship. I hope even if it does come in they will be reasonable.

It appears to have been further delayed, as far as I know - no details of exact start dates seem to be online
