How do you receive charges?

Was just wondering how people received charges? Do they come in post or do you get told when you go to bail date or both?
In the post
My person got a phone call to tell him he was being charged

My person was asked to go into station at the end of his bail and was informed of his charges and given a court date then
My husband was asked in for second interview and charge and given court date
My person was asked to go to the police station for an up date on the case as was given the charges then.
Does the case not have to go to the CPS after the second interview before they decide to prosecute and have a court date ?
Thanks everyone, so in the post, by phone or in person. Think one of the hardest things is everything is different for everyone so you can't mentally prepare or feel like you have any control over anything.
Yes we have had second interview and his case is with cps so ready for next stage.

My OH had charges in person yesterday. Making 9 cat b. Magistrates 9 Dec, let's see what happens ....x
Eye of storm - hope you are OK? One step closer to it all being over! Stay strong x
Hand delivered by police through letterbox
It's a very small number and no Cat A. Hopefully a community order. I hope your solicitor asked for a conditional caution too, it's always worth a shot with such low numbers. I guess it depends on the age of the victims in the images too.
Hi everyone! I'm doing okay thank you, in a strange way I feel relieved to finally know after 15 months what we're actually dealing with. He was initially arrested for a communication offence (which we knew and the police knew was total fantasy) so it's been interesting to find out CPS aren't pursuing any charges for that. If only he'd not had that conversation ...anyway he did, so we know stay strong and face the next stage together.
Interesting thought on the conditional caution idea, not sure what the chances are, but like you say definitely worth asking the solicitor the question.
Thank you for the love, support and messages. What a lifeline you all are xxxx

Give it a go. They do hinge on the person "seeking help" i.e. LFF or something similar, showing insight and remorse, and making a frank admission (which perhaps your solicitor may not be keen on depending on the circumstances). My person's firm has managed to secure a few cautions but so much depends on how bloody-minded the CPS people dealing with your particular case are. Best of luck!
I feel that the pre sentence report from probation helps the judge make a descision ours was quite a good report he ended up with community order fine and 5 years sor x
