Those of you whose person received a community or suspended sentence, did any keep their job? My person's job isn't public facing, no position of trust, office based, think engineering, computing, biotech. I'm just pondering the potential financial situation.

Would likely hinge on what his contract says and if there has been any media coverage.

It is possible. If not in the media, if the offender manager does not need to disclose the offence as there is no risk of encountering children, and as long as they do not want to put monitoring software on work computers.

Probation appointments & community work can be arranged at weekends & evenings, or around normal working hours.

Good luck x

My OH managed to get a job in what he studied to do (he was studying at the time of the arrest). No media and no disclosure required in the contract (not working with children or vulnerable people). He's doing really well in it, the offence hasn't impacted it at all.
He has a work phone and laptop that isn't checked by his offending manager due to being work devices.

My ex lost his job as soon as he told them he was due in court due to there being press he had no choice but worked throughout the investigation for almost 2 year as was told he didn't need to disclose as soon as boss found out he was told to resign he did end up going to prison anyway but they didn't know that at the time what the outcome was going to be. I just wouldn't say Anything until you absolutely have too. I hope you get a good outcome and he gets to keep his job as it affects the whole family the loss of the job Im having to pay a mortgage now on my own which is hard but I manage somehow. X

I agree with Ginluver about only telling people you have to tell. Only our close family know of my OH's offence and it makes the moving forward after so much easier especially if you're lucky and it doesn't go in the media and they get a community/suspended sentence.

Thanks all. We're nearly 6 months in - how did that happen? - and still in limbo. But we've got into a manageable routine with supervised family time and 'downtime' where I don't have to be on edge.
I'm doing a very phased return to work starting in December, building up to full (part time) hours in January.
Sending hugs to all x.

Does anyone have experience of not wanting to disclose in a non-public-facing role and the visor/police forced them to anyway? Also, if the contract states that you do have to disclose and you don't, given that it isn't a criminal offence (but a civil one) can the police force you to disclose anyway?
