What exactly is "supervised contact"? Can the supervisor be anyone? Do they need to be approved by social services or told what to look out for?

If the person has "no unsupervised contact with under 16s" can they go to a family party if there will be children there? Do they have to disclose their no-contact conditions to the parents there?

Been given all these conditions but no advice on what it means or how to follow it. And social services seem to impose stricter advice than the police conditions, but are they just suggestions?! It's all so confusing.

Thanks for any help.

No contact (without prior agreement by police or SS) is what my husband has on his bail. It means exactly that - no contact. If we request agreement (which we have for Christmas) then the parent of the child in question needed to speak to the OIC to get said permission so that he could ensure they were aware of the risk involved. The parent will supervise and we got 2 hours only on Xmas day.

At a family party the OIC would need to disclose to all parents of children present.

Email your OIC or solicitor for an explanation if it's unclear x

You may have to go back to whoever imposed the restriction for clarification on who can supervise the contact as SS can have different opinions on this than the police.

My person has a SHPO which says he cannot have any unsupervised contact with under 18's unless agreed with SS and the parents. To adhere to this requirement we ensure he is never in a situation where he finds himself alone with young people and children.

The supervisor would need to be someone who understood why the restrictions were in place, e.g the persons offence and what the restrictions involved. My person is able to attend all family events as we always have someone with him who can supervise. In our case he would only need to gain approval from SS and the parents if he was going to be alone with anyone under the age of 18.
