Hi,

So my partner has been doing a few overnights agreed by social at mine and our daughters home. She's 2.

He is subject to a SOR.

We keep getting told different things about when he needs to inform the police.

On his sor it says within 3 days of staying.

Can he do it before?

He works a weird shift pattern which makes it hard to always notify within 3 days after. And he finishes after all the police stations close and starts before they open.

Also if he registers my address would he still have to keep going to the police station after staying?

Any advice or help would be great.

Thank you

Distressed and pregnant

Hi,

my partner has registered my address and to the best of my knowledge would only have to notify if he spent more than 12 hours with a child that wasn't ours at an unregistered address xx

Having the same issue and tried to find the answer at the weekend,it's so confusing.
from what we have been told today, they can register your address and children as somewhere they spend over 12 hours. Then would just have to register it once, not every time.

Hi all,

Thank you for your replies.

So should just be able to register it as a place he sometimes stays with an under 18 tomorrow and then won't have to do it again.

It's so hard and confusing.

He's only got 2 years left and doesn't want to mess it up now.

We will go tomorrow ans register my address :)

Thank you

Hi yes will update.

It is all so confusing. Wish it was simpler we literally just fought 18 months to get our daughter home and then 5 months living seperatly and now being allowed a few over nights don't really need the stress.

They really should give a clearer instructions.

Will update after been tomorrow to the police station tomorrow.

Hi, when you say you fought to get your daughter home was that because of what was going on with your OH and all of this? Sorry if it's too personal of a question please don't feel like you have to answer.

I only ask because I'm pre court and trying to figure out what visitation etc. means for my kids in terms of SS and potential outcomes.

Hi

Yes it was she was taken at birth by social services and courts due to my partners offending and they felt I was unable to protect her.

I also didn't have the best upbringing and had mental health issues in the past and our relationship had had issues in the past.

They wanted her adopted originally but in may this year we had a positive psychological risk assessment which deemed me protective, stable and my partner little to no risk of our little girl.

He is allowed unsupervised contact provided he doesn't do personal care ( if she needs nappy change has to bring her home or have someone with him who can do it)

I am sorry to hear that your pre court.

It will always depend on the risk posed by the offender but also the ability of the mother to be protective and understand the risks etc

Hi,

So he registered my address today. But didn't get answer about whether this means he doesn't have to when he next stays over.

However looking at the form I think he shouldn't as that address is now on there.

He's trying to get hold of PPU to confirm as they don't seem to awnser their phones.

Will keep you all updated.

So still unsure on the rules around all of this.

Police station said he will still need to tell them everytime he's going to stay here but he can do it in advance.

So he's already informed them he's staying christmas eve.

So at least we don't have to worry about not being able to do it around his work as he can just do it advance on one of his days off.

to make sure he asks the question about whether that's it or has to do it every time!!
