Will Social Services Get Back in Touch?

Did anyone receive a call or email from social services in the weeks after sentencing?
My former partner was sentenced to prison recently for a non contact offence involving online images.
They moved out of the home upon arrest and our children (both under 18) want nothing to do with them.
My children have had zero contact for over a year and my ex partner is currently serving a prison sentence
The officer in charge emailed just after sentencing and told me that when my former partner is released I will be contacted by social services to discuss any contact between former partner and children.
However, I am unsure if I should expect a call or email from social services post sentencing, and if so what the call or email might entail?
We are over a month after sentencing and I've heard nothing from Social Services
Can anyone shed any light or share their experience?
Thanks

Hi
The SS referral post sentencing is usually made by the probation service or offender manager if they realise there has been previous involvement or they have contact/live with children.
Our referral wasn't done until about 6 weeks post sentencing. Whether it involves a full report or just a phone call will depend upon the amount of contact they (want to) have with their children.

Hi,
Thanks for your reply
The children haven't seen or spoken to my ex partner for over a year, since my ex was initially arrested
My ex partner is currently serving a prison sentence and the children don't want any contact with my ex partner at all
So do you think we would be facing a full assessment, or just a phone call to confirm no contact with no assessment?
I really don't like the stress of assessments and hate how this is dragging on... I feel like every day I am waiting for another phone call or another email
Thanks in advance for your reply! :)

My ss referral post sentencing was also 6 weeks after sentencing. It was a phone call just to check that I was happy with the safety plan in place. As your children don't want contact there is no need for further assessments so it's likely that you'll receive a call from ss to confirm no contact. As your ex has received a custodial then it might be that sentencing isn't picked up by ss until notified by probation leading up to or just after release xxx
That makes sense, and links with what the officer in charge said... That I would only hear from Social Services upon or just before release.
Also, the no assessment because of no contact also makes sense... Why would they want to do an assessment if there is no contact.
Thanks so much, you've really put my mind at ease.
