Installing monitoring software

Does anyone know how monitoring software is installed? What do VISOR say about devices that belong to offender but which were not seized by police from when the investigation began? Are devices reset before they install the software? I am just very paranoid about potential historical searches, communication or websites (who knows what he's been up to) from before conviction being used as a way to activate a suspended sentence. Bizarely they didn't bother to ask about our devices they only took his phone and we have had no advice from police since.
Until the point that the SHPO is issued, he can still reset his devices and delete history, but afterwards that would probably put him in breach.
There are different types of monitoring software, so it depends how that particular one works. But the focus tends to be on current use, not past history.

The current bail conditions would prevent him from deleting or resetting. Unless they are removed between now and a potential court date. Fingers crossed it's NFA but the stories on this forum make me think that is a pretty dim light at the end of the tunnel.
