Court Process

Hi, the dreaded knock happened a year ago. My son attended the magistrates court recently (communication with a minor) and pleaded not guilty. He's now going to Crown Court for a plea hearing and then a trial.
I believe that is the process but my son gives me very little information and wanted to confirm that is the normal process?
Im also really worried I'm not being told everything as my son says the he's been foolish but not sexual and was led into responding by the undercover police officer. My head tells me the Police do not charge without any evidence but want to believe my son.

Yes that's the correct process for a non guilty plea. It will probably be a long wait for trial as the courts are so behind.
the police are not able to charge without evidence, though there are some on this forum that have won a trial.

Thank you for your response.
I fear my trust in my son will be tested when all the evidence comes out in court. I asked him to tell me everything at the beginning and I would help him as much as I can. From what he's told me he's done nothing wrong but I'm not naive enough to believe the Police charge with no evidence.

I don't think simply communicating with someone underage without it being a sexual conversation would be illegal. Is that what he is saying?
In short yes. The decoy was allegedly very suggestive and stated they were underage. Why he didn't end the conversation then I will never know.
Combination of things, loneliness, boredom, frustration, unhappy, feelings of not fitting in socially, feeling of being different, seeking attention, already viewing extra pornography, low impulse control, looking for a sense of attention, feelings of failure and despair, low self esteem, lack of control in real life, unstable relationships, not able to talk about emotions, accessibilty to images ...I could go on. For many it's an escalation of behaviour not a dogged determination to seek this stuff out. Just my opinion xxx
