my son's case is a bit unique as he actually hasn't been investigated, cautioned or even charged however I'm concerned about his online behaviour as so is he.
In march the police came to out house to to search, seize and investigate the devices within the house hold as there was suspicion that someone had downloaded CSAM.
However no evidence was found that there was any indication that anything illegal took place. However the OIC had mentioned that they don't go to an address without reasonable belive that offending did take place.
However the police then visited us a couple of weeks ago and the same happened no further action
My son has confided in me that he has concerns on his online activity. And wanted to get help as he suffers from autism and OCD

Hi poppy - just a quick reply to say YES! do contact LFF, either you or your son. To stop online abuse of children before it reaches the awful tragedy (for everyone) of an arrest and what follows plus if someone stops using the internet in this way it helps to shutdown the market for these images which is perhaps the most important bit and exactly why LFF exists. It does sound as though your son is on a slippery slope towards disaster already. I'm sorry that the police didn't offer you some advice along these lines as it sounds as if they are just poised waiting for a reason to arrest him, and as your son admits he needs help with his online activity you are already on the pathway to stopping anything awful happening. There are courses for youngsters and also for yourself as well as a helpline which may take courage to ring but I'm sure you won't regret doing it. Good luck!
Your son will be able to do the Young Persons Inform course with Stop it Now. He wil be able to work one to one with a trained practioner. It will help him understand his behaviours around online activity and will educate him in the laws around the internet.
I am saddened the police have not mentioned this to you already. The trained practioner can also adjust the young person's course, if need be, as your son has Autism.
I am thinking of you and your son.

I think he should definitely ring the helpline, maybe visit the GP to see if there are any young persons referrals they can make to sex education awareness, we have a hub locally for young people up to 25 to access sexual advice/counselling, you may have one in your area.
LFF have a linked website targeted at younger people called 'Shore' as well which might be helpful. This was recommended to me by the LFF helpline as in light of what their dad has done I wanted to educate my older 2 on accessing porn etc. on the website they can get free anonymous advice if they are worried about their sexual behaviour.

Have you put monitoring apps on his phone/PC?
