Hi it is an option. But if you are left with over 16k from the house sale you would not be entitled to universal credit. They may disregard the money from the house sale ans you'd still be entitled, but only for a year.
have you applied for universal credit?
you may get something. I am single mum and I work full time and I get 350 per month.

You may also be eligible for support for mortgage interest through your universal credit claim. This won't cover all of your mortgage payment but it will help.

it all depends how many children you have and your take home pay. Send me a message if you want me to work out what you might get.
