I read a lot of people are charged with making iioc. Many cases reported state "inaccessible images were found" so deleted ones. Does anyone know more about how they are found or what exactly inaccessible means?
My oh got a 3rd bail extension today from the oic call. Later in the day the solicitor called and told us it was because his phone had been sent off and not came back yet. So does that mean his other devices were clean?

After an image is deleted from the recycle bin, it remains on the device, until overwritten by other data. So it can still be found by forensics even if inaccessible through normal means.
Would this be the same for videos? Also how or where are they found if permanently deleted thanks
Specialist forensic technology will recover all deleted data including any images and files x
My understanding from the solicitor in 'my' case is that not all deleted images will be found. It depends a lot on the make of phone for example (I'm sure the less terminally stupid end of the IIOC accessing spectrum know all about this). But deleted images certainly can be retrieved, so deletion isn't any kind of magic bullet.
Its going to depend how the images/videos were deleted. Pressing the delete button doesn't overwrite the data.
You would need specialist software to replace the data with other stuff, usually the number 0. There are programs out there that can do that, and sometimes it can be done using the factory reset option, although it depends on the device. For example, a factory reset will not erase data, if it is on a micro SD card.

They forensics look at the cache of the phone to search for images, this is the bit of an android phone that stores a history of websites that have been visited. However I've read quite a lot about this and just because those images are there, doesn't necessarily mean the image has been viewed, it could just be the image appeared somewhere within that webpage and the image has then been saved in the cache. It's quite a contentious issue because (apparently) in any other type of criminal case it's validity would be called in to questioned, but sadly for sex offences it's a prosecutors go to! X
