Hi,

So are a week on from the knock and trying to support my son.

Is anyone happy to share suggestions or recommendations for therapy or counselling.

What helps them begin to heal and reflect on behaviors. What helps them to show the police and the court that they are trying to correct their mistake?

Thank you

Hi sorry you are here and going though this.

Is your son an adult? We went through StopSo for a counsellor and they have been amazing x

Phone the helpline. That's the best place to start. They run courses depending on his age but there's also a course you can do called INFORM. X

I would endorse the Inform course for you and the one for offenders for your son - if he's a teen there is a special one for that age group. Also a StopSo therapist - as well as being helpful for your son, these things are all mitigation to show remorse and a wish to not offend again.

You don't mention how old your son is, but a son is a son regardless and there are lots of mums on this forum who are more than willing to support you so please do keep posting or private message anyone who you feel an affinity with. One of the best ways to help your son is to protect your own mental health and sharing this awful situation is key in that. Empathetic hug sent from the mum of an adult online offender.

Thank you all so much.

I can't even believe I am on this forum, my son is 22 and was 21 at time of offending.

He needs to get support, I have looked online but there is so much going on with everything. He has lost his job and now needs to arrange therapy and maybe a solicitor!

Never ever thought he would be in trouble with the police.

Thanks again for your advise.

Definitely get a solicitor even if it's for when the police call him in "for a little chat". He might be entitled to Legal Aid. You can check online. X
