I'm on a selection of local news pages and I've noticed a big increase in the number of reported cases involving iioc and contact etc.... I imagine this is linked to the recent reporting of the similar national enquiries..... Has anyone else noticed an increase?

I haven't noticed that but I guess it would depend what outlets you're monitoring.

I've been surprised by the relative lack of IIOC offences reported in our local media. It's pretty much all contact offences. The potential barrister in 'my' case did say that IIOC offences were so common now that lots never make it into the media now, at least in our area (she's based in the nearest major city).

By 'contact' do you mean literal physical contact, or do you include communication offences?

I've noticed an increase in both, previously only a few big cases seem to be published like famous, people working in police/hospital. These are city wide newspapers (but online content) ..... Over the last week in Yorkshire area seems be be much more published almost daily. There is a bit of media hype around the Rotherham grooming gangs as well as a national inquiry into grooming gangs. As well as police doing a new campaign at supporting victims of child sexual abuse and encouraging them to come forward when they are ready to talk.

Hoping it is all short lived spike in published cases.
