Hiya Ladies.

So my other halve will start the process of seeking work within the next couple of months.

My question is that until he finds employment he will have to get Job Seekers Allowance.

Has anybody's other halve getting this and if so how did the interview with the Job Centre go and did they find him anything ?

xx

Hi, you'll need to check his eligibility because it depends on household income and savings etc. He might have to claim UC instead. My ex claims UC and first claimed when he was about 48. He had to attend the JC most weeks and prove he'd been looking for work for 35 hours a week. Then, he became my carer which meant the JC left him alone. He couldn't find a job, even with a first class degree. His age, criminal record, being out of work whilst in prison and being on the SOR made it impossible for him. I guess people could become self employed though. He was single too. Its impossible to live and pay the bills on the amount they are given per week. It was soul destroying really. He found half the JC staff were ok and the other half seemed to wish they could deal with anyone else but him. But I wish you all the very best.

Also, the JC don't find work for people. People have to find it themselves. They will send people on various courses which are mandatory such as reading and writing/matchs if the person doesn't have a qualification in that regard. They send people for CV writing courses too.
