Hello ladies.

So just wondering and not sure if anybody has reached this stage.

What happens when you have finished SOR and the register and what stage you go on the DBS scale ?

It really depends on when the conviction is spent. It will always show up on an enhanced DBS check, but for a regular DBS it must be unspent.

How long it takes before a conviction is spent depends on how long the original sentence was and also if there is an SHPO. The Unlock website has a calculator, which is useful.

Hiya Edel.

We are nearly halfway through he SOR and registrar and we know that it's 5 years plus 1 which does my head in.

He has a great job which did have to have a enhanced DBS which we know won't get again but at least maybe get a basic one ?? fingers crossed.

Thank you ????

This is what is confusing me as well - my person received a 3 year community order which finishes next year and 5 years on SOR and SHPO so by my calculations the SOR ends in 2027 and the SHPO ends in 2028.

What I'm wondering is how long it then takes before the DBS update their system to show it as a spent conviction on a standard check ( he won't be applying for any job requiring an enhanced one) and also

do you receive any paperwork to show that the conviction is spent ?

Hi,

I believe that the rules have changed and the conviction becomes spent once the longest order is completed. Seaside for your person this will be at the end of the SHPO in 2028.
To the best of my knowledge there is no longer the need to declare as unspent for the additional year. I'll find the link and edit my comment to include it shortly xxx

It used to be the case that it was the length of the order plus one year but it changed in October 2023 I believe so it's now spent once the order is complete xxx

I would be really happy if this does happen.

When my O/H went for his meeting with probation and team they kept on going on about this extra year which he found strange.

If they have changed it great. ????

To be honest with these offences it's quite easy to work out because it's when the SHPO ends. And the SHPO is always longer than the community order/suspended sentence itself. At that point it'll show on enhanced DBS only.

Hiya All.

I think it's great that unlock has sorted this and the powers that be.

My O/H is going to message his visor manager to confirm this news.

He has given up going back to his old kind of work which required a enhanced DBS but at least now we can work towards a basic one.
