Breach of GDPR by probation officer

A quick question here:

On two separate occasions my son has been contacted by probation on his mobile number but regarding a completely different person.

The first instance was a text message asking the individual ( who I will call J) to change his appointment to another date.

This was mentioned by both son and my husband at the last home visit and was dismissed by the visor and PO with " oh a least they didn't give the last name ".

On Tuesday son received a call on his mobile asking to speak to J and including the last name- he asked who was calling and was told it was the probation officer ( not the one assigned to him but a different one) when he asked why they had his number recorded for a different name and expressed his concerns about confidentiality the PO hung up on him.

He has contacted his Visor who promised to look into this immediately and also his own PO but up until now he has not received any response from either of them.

Surely this constitutes a breach of his GDPR putting both him and ourselves at risk ? We are extremely concerned that our address may also have mistakenly been filed under J's name .

Any advice would be greatly appreciated- if we haven't heard anything by tomorrow then we are considering a formal complaint

This is most definitely a data breach and should be raised formally with them, if they fail to respond the complaint can be escalated to the Information Commissionaires Office

Thank you for the reply if we don't receive any response by tomorrow then we will most definitely be taking this further.

If you don't get anything back confirming they've fixed it, ask or Google their Data Protection Officers details and tell them you have concerns and will raise with the ICO if it's not fixed.
Under GDPR you have a right to rectification-ensure that your details that they hold are current and correct and have inaccurate information rectified ASAP. if they're not keeping your data accurate and youve asked or told them multiple times to correct it, that's also a data breach. It's also sensitive data as well as personal data so even more important that this is kept accurate.
