My husband was arrested Wednesday last week.

It was for a communication offence involving a minor on Kik

It wasn't a minor however it was a sting.

He has been released on bail and social services,

Have visited.

My question is there was another chat with a 17yr old.

However this was not sexual at all would this be classed as

Illegal?

TIA

Hi Notsurewheretogo, I can't answer your question, maybe others can. This whole area seems to be dealt with very inconsistently from what I read. I guess it's hard to be able to understand the details of each case. The waiting for the police to even start their work is the worst thing. Until then we all have no clue what our partners will be facing. Just wanted to reach out and tell you you're not alone. X

I'm sorry you are in this situation. I dont know how much help I can be, from what I understand 17 can be classed as a minor depending on where they are. In Scotland 16 is an an adult but in Texas its 21. It may just ba a case of waiting on what the police say x

Hi... Sorry to read you are part of this unwanted club.

In England and Wales anyone under 18 is a child... No grey area. If your partner was chatting to a 17 year old it depends on what the chat logs will show as to whether CPS proceed with criminal charges. The police will forensically recover the data and then submit a report for cps to consider.

They will estimate ages if any images or movie clips are recovered from deleted memory. The police did this with my partner... estimating the girls between 13 and 15 on the 4 movie clips he had deleted.

This forum is a lovely support area as is the stop it now help line... Wishing you well.
