The OIC has had the download back since mid-November but still hasn't "reviewed" the download. Should it take this long? How long did other peoples take after download returned?

losingit,

How did you know they had the download?

the geek tech guys came to do a download at the house, but still took everything away.

just over a year later we have a court date, no more info at all.

Hopefully solicitor knows way more.

thanks for sharing xx

Hi,

We were advised once the information was downloaded a forensic officer will categorise the images (if images) in a report to prepare charges. Is this complete or is this what they are completing since the download? x

Communication. But not on that phone and the social media account was deleted long before arrest. Victim statement also indicates it was a mistake sending of pic which is what OH also told police. No age or identity of victim ever stated. It was a blank profile and they never exchanged any words. Just photo sent then blocked once mistake realised. So we're hoping NFA based on lack of evidence of intent and age. But it's strange the phone is taking this long to review unless they've just ignored it all this time.

This is all about workloads and priorities. The OIC will have many different case files on their desk that they have to go through, I imagine. Reviewing a download could mean all sorts of things, from categorising images to looking through page after page of conversations.

It all depends how much data was downloaded and how busy the OIC is.

Thanks. Bail date is not far off now I really hope there's not another extension. They've actually contacted my OH's work as well and said to them they're hoping to wrap up by next bail date. We've heard nothing about that though! Not sure whether they are stringing his manager along too.

Hi Losingit

we had the same - OIC paid OH a visit at home a few weeks back to say he had the downloads, would review and hopefully wrap it up by next bail date (20th Feb).

Solicitor has chased since and got nowhere so we are just waiting. Possibly re-bailed (that'll be the third time), second interview, RUI, charges - it's the not knowing that is so bloody hard x

That's exactly it. It's soul destroying.

I also find it incredible that he's had to get that information from his boss rather than the police themselves.

Also I do wonder if they already know what they are looking for and where when they "have the downloads". Presumably forensics give them some indication of what's on there even if it hasn't been categorised or fully examined etc.

I think I'd be querying why they contacted his work about that rather than telling him directly!! Whatever happened to GDPR - surely that information should be personal!
Mind you, some of the stories I've seen on this forum, nothing surprises me anymore!

If he doesn't work with vulnerable adults or children then the police have no right to contact work. It flies in the face of GDPR regs and also the police's grand speeches about just getting on with lives until there is an outcome to their investigations. Unless your person specifically gave permission or maybe was arrested at work?
