Dear Forum Users,

Last year, we invited our forum users to take part in a satisfaction survey to help us gain insight into your experiences on the forum and identify areas for improvement. Thank you to everyone who took the time to complete the survey. We recognise that completing a survey can take time, and so we appreciate your willingness to contribute and support our work. Your feedback has been invaluable, and we have carefully reviewed your suggestions for improvements.

Many of you shared an interest in having emojis to react to posts. However, due to the high level of security on the platform hosting the forum, we are unfortunately unable to implement this feature. Whilst this is a source of frustration for us, we do also find it reassuring to know that the forum is hosted on such a secure platform. That said, we’re excited to introduce a heart reaction function soon. This new feature will allow for greater interaction and engagement within the forum, enabling users to share their support by clicking the heart button in addition to posting their thoughts. We hope this serves as a welcomed alternative to emojis.

Another important area of feedback we received was about our topics folder. We know that most discussions currently take place within the general discussion and support folder, making it difficult to find or categorise specific conversations. This can sometimes lead to posts getting lost, making it harder for users to find the right place to seek support or locate relevant discussions. To improve your experience, we plan to refine our forum’s landing page and structure by introducing more specific topic folders for easier navigation and discussion. At the same time, we want to ensure we don’t overwhelm users with too many folders that may not be essential. As part of our review of the topics folders, we will also explore ways to reduce the number of pinned posts, while also keeping them visible for everyone to access on the forum. Our pinned posts are important, and we’re working on a solution that keeps them highly visible while also giving more space for our general posts.

We’d love to hear your thoughts on which new topic folders you would like to see added. Your input is invaluable in helping us make the forum more user-friendly and relevant to the needs of our community.

Please take a few moments to complete our new survey and share your thoughts on how we can improve the topic folders to better serve you. Your feedback is greatly appreciated.

In addition to these improvements, we are also working behind the scenes to implement further features that add additional layers of safety to the forum. This includes introducing CAPTCHA for new users registering on the forum to prevent spam and bots, as well as a 'quick exit’ button to allow users to swiftly leave the forum if needed. You can find this function already visible on the Stop It Now and Lucy Faithfull Foundation websites. In addition to this, we’ve added a ‘cookie settings’ button to make it easier for you to accept or reject cookies. This new button appears on the bottom right-hand of every page on the forum and looks a bit like a paperclip. These enhancements are part of our ongoing commitment to making the forum a safe and supportive space for all users.

You might also have noticed that we’ve made some changes to the Forum home page, which we hope makes it more concise and easier to navigate. By simplifying the layout, we aim to highlight essential content and ensure important information stands out, especially for new users.

We are always very mindful that improvements can be made to our forum. Users are welcome to put forward their ideas and we will always take these into consideration. However, please remember that we are a charity and resources are restricted. This means that there will be functions within the forum that we are unable to change or that are not viable at this time.

Your participation and feedback mean so much to us, and we truly appreciate your continued support in making this forum a welcoming and supportive space for all.

Kind regards,

The Forum Team
