Court tomorrow

So my OH is going to magistrates court tomorrow. I’m planning on booking the day off sick for work because I don’t think I’ll be able to focus on my work and have already been struggling.
My question is what the hell to do with myself whilst I wait. How do I get through the day without breaking down and losing my mind?
Any advice from anyone who has gone through this would be greatly appreciated.

I'll be keeping you both in my thoughts tomorrow and sending you the strength to get through the day.
The only thing I can offer in how to spend the time waiting is to just do anything you can face doing and do it slowly so it uses up as much time as possible.

I found being at home really suffocating. so I think if you can get out in the fresh air and simply walk it will help with the horrid feeling of restlessness. Good luck. I know what a hideous feeling it is x
Good luck for tomorrow. Will be thinking of you xxx
I know what you're going through. My person was there on Mon. Had to be there for 10. He went a little earlier as he was meeting with solicitor. He said everyone had to get there for 10 then they called people in. He was about the third person to be seen. He wasn't in very long. When he came out he spoke to his solicitor. The probation officer was there and took his details and said they'd get in touch with him. He then went straight to the police station to sign the register. He was back home just after 11. I did some cleaning. Sad I know:) but for some reason it calms me. Will be thinking about you x
Is it the plea hearing or sentencing? If it's just the plea, your person will only be in there for a few minutes. If it's for sentencing, you can be there if you want to. X
Hi all,
Thank you for your supportive messages. I'm currently waiting at home. I've been for a walk, tidied, right now I feel drained and scared as I didn't sleep well last night.
It is a plea hearing and my partner was set to go in at 10 but went in about 9. Terrified as I wait I want the plaster ripped off but am scared of what I'll hear.

Eek what a worrying time for you both. Thinking of you and keeping everything crossed for no surprises and a swift resolution X
Thinking of you xx
Hope it went well. Thinking of you x
Thank you everyone for the support and kind words. My partner was out of there pretty quickly. It was a horrible experience for him with people in the room scoffing at him whilst his charges were read out, and it breaks my heart to have people viewing someone you love like that.
We have crown court in about a months time and am dreading it.

I am so sorry Ocean13, it sounds absolutely awful. Hope you are ok
Does anyone know what distinguishes between magistrates and crown court?
I am dreading it all.....

Oh Ocean I'm so sorry. That sounds really hard. I never understand the reasoning of people who judge and behave like that. It speaks volumes about them not you. How ironic their righteousness is.
Remember there is a whole tribe of us walking this dreadful path alongside you. You may feel alone but you're not. I'd far rather be surrounded by the kind, wise, compassionate, thoughtful, non judgemental women here than those self righteous, judgemental **** you came across in court
Thinking of you. Look after yourself x x

Wanderer41 – What do you mean by what distinguishes the two types of court?
Magistrates courts are the lowest level of criminal court and deal with more minor offences. All criminal cases start with a hearing at magistrates even if this is just to pass the case straight to crown court. A not guilty plea for a minor offence will result in a summary trial in which the evidence is heard by a team of three magistrates or one judge who then decide on a verdict and sentence. The sentencing powers of a magistrate court are limited and the maximum they can pass is six months in prison.
Crown courts are the next level of criminal court and deal with the more serious offences. They are what most people think of when they think of a UK courtroom, judge and barristers in wigs and gowns etc. A not-guilty plea will result in a full jury trial. A crown court judge has the full range of sentencing powers available to them.

Hi Ocean
It sounds like a dreadful week. I'm sure you're pleased that this week is nearly over. I can understand what you're saying. While I'm not with my OH anymore, the idea of people looking at him thst way breaks my heart. While I can't be with him anymore, it breaks my heart thinking of what is coming. I suppose there is no other way but through this. Hopefully once all this court stuff is done, there will be space for your family to heal. I've been taking comfort from Donna Ashworth's Growing Brave.
