The YP as a victim

I'm still thinking out loud but it's on my mind, that not once have the police referred to the fact that the young person in our family, having received images of IIOC as a child, is also a victim. It is after all illegal to send sexual images, even legal ones to minors. Where's the victim support leaflet? The family liaison officer?
It's irrelevant if any of these young people accused asked or went looking. Firstly it shouldn't be so bloody easy to find, that's on the internet providers and social media sites. Secondly, if an addict goes looking for drugs, the dealer is still in trouble for selling it to them if they get caught. They are still victims too, even if you don't like what they themselves did. SO when will the police update me on the other side of things? When will we find out if any of the adults involved somewhere along the lines have been found or spoken to, investigated... ?
Never, I presume. I'm being facetious but it's really annoying me. Everything is at the moment. Where are the charges for the sites literally allowing this stuff? Where is the baying mob at the doors of Snapchat or telegram? Why is it ok to post photos and home address on social media but there's no mention of the CEO of the company that literally makes money from allowing this stuff.. no photo or head quarters address should people wish to go to their door. Why is it not in the public interest to keep reminding the public that these companies quite literally allow it? They make it possible. Not that I'm condoning any mob/vigilantes/hysterical actions or language. But it's just curious isn't it. Where the anger and focus is targeted. Useless waste of time that will do nothing to change anything. All it does is traumatise and ruin lives, ironically often of children and probably making the whole thing much more likely to continue..and as for vigilantes, what a pathetic waste of their time. They're doing nothing to help or change anything. It's all for their own entertainment and fame. Again often thier frankly odd, frothing at the mouth behaviour and obsession with this stuff often harms innocent children. You could almost call it a kink in itself. Why is it allowed? Are there murder vigilantes? Shoplifting vigilantes? Are there mobs trawling the streets looking at knife crime? Not that I've ever heard of. The weird self righteousness of this whole thing makes me furious.

If it's the job of the police to prevent crime, why are they so keen to publicise photos and addresses whilst also warning families not to tell anyone, or to lay low, or having to put police measures in place to protect families from the backlash that they make possible. It's all so bloody stupid and pointless.
my family are victims of the media , the police and vigilante, no consideration for the truth no consideration for my family my parents my dad had nightmares every other night that he is fighting with people once close to us he's hurt himself on several occasions, the police allow these protests , they don't hold them for the drug dealers in the communities polluting our streets and killing people there are many victims in these crimes 1st of the abuse of these children in the 1st instance that will never not be condoned it's heart breaking , yes some of our people are victims to these crimes also then the families we are victims I try to snap out of victim mentality but it haunts me yet I too have terrible nightmares hopefully one day they disappear..these social media outlets should be held accountable if they can block your content for abusive language why are they not doing it for child abuse images ? it makes no sense
I'm so sorry Sad. It's awful for you and your family
Agree....
Just adding..I hope my ranting doesn't upset or offend anyone. I'm just so frustrated by the inconsistencies and the failure to look at the whole picture. It all seems so tunnel vision on certain aspects and to hell with the families or the companies or the fact that people can be suspects and victims.
not at all i agree with all you say, I think we all wish this wasn't happening in the world those poor children in the 1st place , people creating AI imaging it all the whole lot of it the distrcution is never ending but when social media is one of thr biggest gateways for getting those images out there then something has to be done also I don't know what and I certainly don't have answers for any of it and what been done can't be undone either but there also isn't much help for us as secondary victims thrown to the wolves
Totally agree with you that the YP caught up in this nightmare are victims too, where was their protection from seeing or being able to access such images.
Most are decent good kids with no real interest in children just hormonal teens looking at porn who I believe would look at anything sexual. They do not have the comprehension of the awful impact on the dear children in those awful images as an older person would and I think they should be treaded very differently.
Yes there has to be consequences but to ruin their lives before they have had the chance to build one seems so wrong. How can they develop and become a decent member of society when labelled a sex offender and put on the offender list and all the knock on limiting effects that will have their lives. It seems the law wants to punish them for life.
