I've been told that it's not a good idea to use local legal representation if going to trial. They're all friends, go to lunch together, chat about their cases and make deals. Go way out of town if possible.

I can so identify with this recommendation. My husband paid over £2000 for a local solicitor / QC who was the duty officer at the police station he was taken too.

A complete waste of money.... On the day of his trial at magistrate's Court he failed to turn up and sent one of his trainees... This clown said nothing in support of my husband and in fact spent the whole period looking ag his mobile phone. At Crown Court for sentencing the defence QC spoke for a few seconds and simply agreed with the prosecution comments and stared that the judge was correct in describing my husband as a deviant.

I could have done better myself... A Muppet would have been more valuable... So please... DO NOT use a duty solicitor... Go to a specialist who deals with sex offences... Best wishes...

I would complain if I didn't get a good service. As my husband has gone to trial there will be plenty of time to spot if he isn't pulling his weight!
