Hi, we are at the start of our journey with the knock being only 4 weeks ago. My person is my uncle who lives with my elderly grandfather. He was charged with sharing images of himself with a decoy pretending to be under 16. Sentencing is at the end of the month. He has been taken to a mental facility due to threats to his life.
i wondered if anyone has any positive stories here for no media coverage? We have approached the solicitor about no press/publications but don't think they will agree to this in court. I'm just so sure that not only will my uncles life be ruined, so will my grandfather's.

Hi, the press issue is really complicated in my mind. It's one of the absolute most stressful aspects of all this, especially for the innocent family members. The solicitor won't be able to stop the press reporting or the Police reporting on their social media. The reason the Police often post about the conviction etc is to make it public in case anyone comes forward with further information or accusations. Even when it's online offences "only". My ex's case went across social media and press and it absolutely ruined my life but I can't help but think about all the children who have been abused by those who create the images in the first place. Apologies that I can't be more positive.
