Were you told when the police analysis of seized devices was completed?

Hello. I am now over 8 months post-knock. We hired a specialist solicitor very early on in the process. As of this time, as far as we know the devices that were seized from the house have still not been checked. The solicitor has said the estimate is 9-12 months for devices to be analysed, but has also said that "timescales can vary". I am wondering what typically happens when the police have analysed the devices. In my person's situation there were a large number of devices taken (more than 20), so I am wondering if this means the process is likely to take longer.
When they have checked all the devices, do you get another visit from the police, do they send a letter in the post to the person's address, or what typically happens? Do they invite the person in for a second interview and then say what has been found?

Hi, on the day of the knock, the Police spent 4 hours in my home going through everything and like you, they took around 20 bits of electronic equipment, iPad, laptop, PC's, my young sons computer gaming stuff and even the router. My ex pleaded guilty straight away and told the Police that the offences were on 3 particular pieces of equipment. It was those 3 pieces only that were sent for analysis and were eventually ordered to be destroyed by the Judge. However, I never got any of the other equipment back including the family PC which had all my family photos on it that weren't backed up elsewhere so I lost them all. I'm sorry that I can't help much with your questions as my ex was remanded and things happened much much quicker than his latest arrest. X
Is a specialist solicitor worth the money. Lots say it's a set fee for them to even look at the case?
Our son found a solicitor in the early days, kind of as insurance in case one was needed, plus we had such a useless and anxiety-producing OIC that we wanted a buffer between her and us. The solicitor requests updates regularly of the police and gets ignored (but says that's usual) unless there is something imminent like a child protection review when ignoring requests would look bad for the police. We are over 2 years since the arrest and nothing has happened other than our grandchildren's SW trying to find out what was happening on our behalf and being told things were almost finished and ready to send to CPS for charging and she would be informed once that happened. That was last November and we are still in the dark, including the SW as complete radio silence and ignored emails from her to the OIC.
I really wanted to know when it had gone to the CPS so I could prepare myself for the next stage of charges but have had no luck and it's left me in a state of anxiety because we are just left in the dark. I gather it's like this for some and much more efficient for others. I do know that the police force involved has had a dreadful inspection recently with over half being graded as requiring improvement which is the understatement of the century!

It's awful isn't it we are over four months in now and heard nothing from OIC at all
We are 7 months in and still waiting. I've contacted our OIC and asked for updates because it's impacting my son and his A levels. The have replied and said they've contacted forensics explaining my son is still a child and how this is having negative impact. The OIC even said he hoped it was positive outcome and he didn't want it impacting my sons learning. Despite this still no update.
Trying to get a reply from our OIC is like trying to get blood out of a stone. Its taken three months, multiple emails too two different officers and a formal complaint to get two items of paperwork that should of been provided on the day of the arrest. We were told that two of the devices would be prioritised as they dont technically belong to OH but are on loan to him, every time we have asked about these devices the email has been ignored.
