Being charged

Hello just need some help or advice on what happens next.
My son is being charged tomorrow. He has been told that his solicitor don't need to be present, not sure if that is true. We are trying to get in touch with him urgently, although he hasn't been much help at all so far.
Also what happens after. Do they contact his workplace. Then does he have a plea hearing?
It all feel very real again now and we are all so scared of what happens and the future.
Any help would be great thankyou so much

Hi there. My person just had duty solicitor when he was charged. He hadn't instructed a solicitor before that point. He went to plea hearing at the magistrates court about four weeks later. He had his solicitor there. Crown court for sentencing which hasn't taken place yet was approx another four weeks after magistrates. Hope this helps. He'd already been dismissed from work so I'm not sure about that x
Hi, I am here because of my son, he is currently on bail which comes to an end next week.
We don't know the full scale of everything, except he had messaged a 17 year oldon snapchat, which bypasses all parental controls and pushed them for pics, which were sent. Other evidence so far said photos that had been looked at are indicative but not clear if they are under 18 years or not. So still a waiting game.....
He will bbe charged, I guess with communication offences and he will be dismissed from his job, which is something he studied for and had only just started, so he has thrown away his career and potentially as a result his girlfriend won't hang about.
I don't know how to see him through, I can't fix it and feel like I should be able to, but I can't.
I hate seeing him in so much turmoil and for him he now says it all is seeming to come real, but he knows he was a bloody idiot in the first place.
An awful place to be.

Thankyou for your replies. He just has the duty solicitor he had from the start and to be honest we should have changed because he hasn't been much help, never replies to calls or emails from my son.
It is a horrible place to be isn't it, I also feel helpless to my son it's awful to see them in such a state and I worry how he will cope once it all comes out. I know he has made a massive mistake and will never excuse what he has done, he has been having counselling but I do worry for the outcome of all this.
He has alot of friends at his workplace and now he is scared that once he is charged they will all find out.
It's a roller coaster of emotions every day isn't it. Thankyou for you replies .

I can't see why the police would inform his work place of charges being brought unless it was a job that involved working with children and if that was the case they probably would of disclosed it after the arrest.
He should check his contract of employment though in case it requires him to disclose any charges or convictions as if he doesn't and they find out he is liable to be dismissed for failing to inform them regardless of the outcome of the case.

Hi, my son didn't have a solicitor with him when he was charged. He was asked to attend the police station for an update on the investigation and was given his charges and the date of his plea hearing then.
