Does anyone have any sense of how long things take from the point the forensics are returned? Is that it? Or do the police need time to go through it?

I'm just pondering - wondering how long this hellish limbo will last. Although I'm not convinced I'm ready for the next stage either.

Hi Starr, I don't know the answer, but am in the same position. I constantly feel torn between wanting the next stage and not being ready for it too. I am sort of hoping they don't contact us until after his GCSE's but then I'm panicking that if it goes to court it could take ages and could he end up being 18 by then :-( So stressful. Hope you're okay xx

My person waited about 16 months from arrest to charges. Then everything seems to move rather quickly. From charge to plea hearing then crown court it will be about 8 weeks. I know what you mean about wanting things to forward but then not wanting it to at the same time x

It's hell ! 3 yrs from my autistic son being arrested to first court appearance. It took 2 yrs from arrest for forensics and then another year before a decision from Cps. Fairly quick in comparison from then moving forward. Just expecting the worst and the limbo will be over. I think the police don't rush if RUA as no timescales needed.

My ex's case has just gone to CPS after his second interview and his solicitor said that current wait time is 3-6 months. This is on top of an 18 month wait for forensics to come back.

My mind is really sketchy on actual timeframes but I do know it's been 3 years since the arrest and sentencing is due in 3 weeks. However, I must warn you that so far, the sentencing hearing has been adjourned the evening before, 3 times. From what I can tell on "Court Serve" adjournments are completely normal and can be done an unlimited number of times. It's an absolute living Hell. X
