Dealing with SS/ proving you understand the offence
Notifications OFF
Hi all
just wondering if anyone has any success with dealing with SS in proving you understand the seriousness of a partners offence?
I have done the inform programme, undertaken other courses, have a masters in psychology, and undertaken therapy with an NHS therapist. The final one has said he has never had a worry about me being groomed or not understanding what my fiancé has done
however SS say I wouldnt even be with a man who has committed the offence my Fiancé has if I understood it.
believe me I understand it, I have read all the documents. i know what images he had in his possession.
but they wont believe me
help!!!

It is really difficult. The only difference with me is that I didn't find out fully what my OH had done until our daughter was put on CPP by SS. I'm really annoyed it was done this way. He was charged with obscene publication due to him talking to an adult (police decoy) about her fake children. I just find that I'm saying things that they want to hear (which is true anyway)- i would have reported it myself, put safeguarding measures in place myself etc... but its still all dragging out. Even though I have said that I have known him for 19 years and I have never come across anything that raised any concerns in regards to his behaviour around children. They are just not interested. They are a very difficult service to deal with.
Hi,
I went through what is grooming with SS over 7 times (I'm not even kidding when I say that).
On the end I was telling her stuff she didn't even know as I have done the course every year for the last 14 / 15 years due to working with vulnerable people.
In the end I was asking her stuff she didn't even know how to answer and stated as a joke as when am anxious I tend to make jokes (that's my coping mechanism I guess) that isn't it time I got a certificate to confirm my understanding. (She didn't find it funny, but I was trying to get her to understand asking me the same thing over and over doesn't change that know about grooming back and forwards as well as safeguarding as I used to be a safeguarding rep and that I never asked to be in this position and being treated as if I was a criminal).
Any ways I digress, I think you just need to honestly say it as it is and if they arnt happt, ask what more they think you should know or do. As they seem to work our of a book/tick sheet exercise and not known knowledge.
Hope you get where you need to be x
