My journey

Hi everyone,
I'm sure most of you will know my story but I'll try to give a brief overview. July 2020 partner arrested for sexual communication with a decoy, he was remanded in custody until sentencing in February 2021. Sentencing (3 year community order, 5 year SHPO and 5 year Sor) happened in the same week that I gave birth to our daughter. I ended the relationship at the time of arrest. Ss involved August to October 2020-case closed with a safety plan in place for after baby was born.
June 2022- a new referral was made by probation following us requesting a meeting with po and visor about me being sole supervisor to allow for a more normal life. This was agreed with an updated safety plan in place and again case closed. Between initial referral and the one in 2022 we had both completed courses with LFF.
In 2023 we made the decision to try to rebuild our relationship. He completed horizon and was continuing talking therapy. I had my own therapy through the NHS and also privately. I have also done loads of research into offending and how it can be prevented with the correct support, accountability, remorse and understanding of the offender. In 2023/24 I did the breaking the cycle course which was challenging but hugely informative and also includes a capability to protect assessment of myself. Following this and after us both receiving positive feedback from horizon (him) and breaking the cycle (me) we made the decision to self refer to ss in February this year. I've received the report and we are now fully closed to ss for both family reunification and unsupervised contact when I deem it appropriate. His time on shpo and sor ends next year and it feels like we will be able to live a normal life as a family unit.
The support I've received on here has been greatly appreciated. This forum has been a lifeline and a blessing to me at times where things seemed so uncertain. I hope to be able to provide even a fraction of that support to others during their journeys. I am forever changed by this experience but that's no longer purely negative. It has opened up my eyes that there are so many of us in this situation through no fault of our own. I hope that my journey gives you a hope for the future that you might not be able to see right now. As always lots of love and support sent to each one of you xxx
