Hi Cedar

I have not heard of this before, so I hope other forum members who have respond to your post. The helpline may also be good to contact too, for their input on this.

Hi Cedar

Just seen you have edited your post, so will comment further.

I agree individuals on the autistic spectrum can have high numbers (and not viewed most of it) from them having a drive for collecting.

Is it ok to message you privately?

The only case I have heard of that was directly investigated by the NCA was on an episode of the channel 5 series Hunting the Predators. Only saw one episode of the series but the case in question involved online sexual blackmail of women, IIOC and causing/inciting sexual activity with children via webcam.

In most cases the NCA's involvment in a case is limited to being given the supects IP address by the internet companies, identifying who it belongs to and then passing it to the relevent local force. I would guess, as you also suspect that the quantity of material is the main factor in why the NCA are involved. Another possible reason for NCA involvment though this is pure speculation on my part would be a need to liase with foreign law enforcement agencies.

Hi Cedarkey7,

I am sorry to hear you find yourself here.

I can't offer any advise on the NCA, but my person has 'at a guess' a similar amount of material (hording & collecting). We are very early into the process at 5 weeks since the knock.

Please free to PM if you would like to discuss further.

This is all speculation really, but if a group of men are sharing images on kik for example and they all live in different parts of the country, that is when the NCA might be involved.

They may have been investigating one member of the group and that led them to another persons ip address and so on. If it involves more than one police force, then it would be easier for the NCA to investigate the whole group rather than have each force doing a seperate investigation.
