How long…

Hi all
the case is with the CPS and has been for a few weeks now, solicitor sent a letter saying they had no updates. How long will this part of the process take...
can the cps send it back if they don't have enough and if they do will they let us know?
nearly 2 years on now and it's a joke. The impact on my mental health is shocking I don't even recognise who I am anymore ):
thank you.

CPS have a certain amount of time they have to look at the file in I think it's 28 days. However, they can send it back to the police as many times as they want for clarifications/more detail/more evidence and every time they send it back to the police when it comes back to CPS the clock resets and they have a further 28 days to look at it. The police probably won't tell you everytime it comes back either sorry to be the bearer of bad news.
Thank you for your reply... how often does the CPS send it back is it a common thing?
it must be about 4 weeks now since it went to the cps and we've had no updates. Do they have to tell the solicitor?

The OIC told me it was fairly common for it to come back and forth, I only know because they told me 28 days and then I didn't hear anything for a further 4 weeks after the 28 days had elapsed and when they did call me to tell me what his charges would be they also told me it had taken longer because it had been back and forwards from CPS. It would depend on your individual OIC whether they told your solicitor.
Absolute joke /: the OIC is usless, doesn't tell us anything Iv complained and nothing has happened!! How long after charges did the trial take? If you don't mind me asking
I know its frustrating, most things happened within a 4 week time frame so first hearing at magistrates was about 4 weeks after charges then about 4 more weeks for a preliminary hearing/reports in crown court if they have plead guilty they'll sign the sex offenders register after one of these first hearings then another 4 until sentencing at crown, your first court date will just be a plea hearing and then if it's a guilty plea will probably run like I said above I don't know about not guilty though, sorry. Sentencing is in about 2 weeks so I'm in the thick of it right now, and my anxiety/ptsd is raging :(
Awful ain't how long did the cps have your case I just found out through his solicitor that it's been there since November with no update? And yes he's going not guilty, the phone he's not bothered about cause it was his brother who sent a funny pic (nothing child related) but cops spoke to him about it and there was a video of him & his ex wife where his child walks in which they can prosecute for that.
what does it mean if it's been there since November and solicitor has no update still?
it's brutal ain't the waiting time is ridiculous and the been left in the dark constantly we've been like this for 2 years my mental health has gone completely I don't even know myself anymore

To be honest I don't know much about the not guilty process but from what I've read on here it seems longer, we're up north to so I don't know if that affects wait times etc.
I chose to leave after the knock too so the only information I got was from the OIC I don't have anything to do with his solicitor, so I'm not sure what they have to tell the solicitor and when sorry. Hopefully it doesn't take too much longer for you.

Yes our police force is rubbish don't tell you anything even when you contact them over and over, Iv filed complaints and I still here nothing. I don't have SS involved they signed me off after 3 months, I even reached out to my old social worker & she ignored me /:
Ours took 6 months.....but I think the first 3 were the OIC saying they're getting ready to send it but hadn't actually done it, it was hard to get timeframes.
