Good grief!
My son was sentenced on 3rd April. As I've said elsewhere it was a shock, so he had no clothes or cash with him.
I've since found out that due to the state he was in, he was under supervision for 24 hours.
He was then put in a wing. On his first Sunday a fight broke out so everyone was moved.
He got access to a system to request clothes be sent in and arranged a visit for me. His clothes hadn't been approved by the time of the visit so I took most of them back home.
The staff were fine, and explained everything well. They're obviously used to people being confused.
I didn't hear from him for a few days and now have had a call from another prison as he's been moved to a Cat C.
And it all has to start again as different prisons have different rules.
He needs to get a new PIN so he can call people, and the approved list has to be checked (again)
And the few clothes they accepted at the visit are now still waiting to be sent over.
So 4 moves in 12 days. And he's on an assessment wing, so will be moved again.
And I've got to start the process of emptying his house and putting his stuff in storage. Which is a 3 hour round trip each time.
I'm not expecting a reply, just wanted to vent. It's all very new and scary, and I'll probably just put stuff here as a dumping ground for the processes.

Has the prison got invisible walls or any family support team? They have been an absolute lifeline
Oh my goodness I wouldn't know where to start, my only suggestion is one thing at a time as this will be so overwhelming for you, ny heart breaks for you I genuinely don't have anything helpful to offer I am sorry
I hear you. I've been through similar. The worst part for us was trying to track him down as no one would tell us anything. No sooner had we done so, they moved him and of course we don't get told. First we knew was when I was blocked from booking a visit online. It's a truly awful system. My person went from being in a prison 20 minutes away to one that was hours away. It would take an entire day out of my life for every visit. Wishing you all the best.
